Smatterings

Never thought I would say this, but thanks, Elton John.

Had an awesome weekend. More to come on that, but let me say that I am constantly amazed at the level of people that God has allowed in my life, not just here, but the men and women that I love and keep in touch with all over the country.  Someday I hope to be as loving and Christ-like as they are.

I’m kind of a selfish brat sometimes, which I didn’t really realize until last night.  Adam said he’d been thinking about what he’d learned all weekend, and I realized that I hadn’t thought about that AT ALL.  Do I really think I’ve got it all figured out? Seriously? So far to go…

My wedding gown fits. It fits beautifully and Hot D was the best helper, fitter, “eeeeee-er” and lacer-upper ever. Once again, so thankful.

I’ve been eating hummus for about two weeks at lunch because I bought a large tub from CostCo for Monday Night Football and hate wasting things. But I’m REALLY tired of hummus now.  I should remember that next time I want to buy a dip the size of a Crock-Pot.

We bought 8 peso tacos at a tiny stand near Ensenada, Mexico this weekend. It was 10 pm, we were all eating these wonderful tacos by the side of a cracked and dusty highway, dirt under our nails and baseball caps on and generally looking nasty, but laughing and joking with each other and making the taco stand people laugh too.  As they made these crazy Gringos more tacos, the wife laughed, and her husband laughed with her, smile lines creasing brown and sun-weathered faces.  They smiled at us and our silly ways, laughing with us as Coca-Cola spilled and as we laughed at everything and nothing. That simple laughter warmed me more than anything could have.
