Gratitude Project: Hot Water

We have been without hot water for almost a week.We thought we’d drained the water heater tank and needed to give it time to warm up, than we thought maybe we had to insulate it better, then we thought we had to replace it altogether, today we’re having it repaired, hopefully.

There’s nothing quite like greasy hair and cold weather to make you really appreciate hot water, and it’s actually amazing to think that we usually have it pouring from our sinks and showers at a moment’s notice. Hot water lets us clean our pots and pans, take luxuriously long showers, and warm up after cold days. Today, even though the water in our pipes is still about 40 degrees, I’m grateful for hot water, because I know I’ll appreciate it so much when it returns. Here’s hoping our water heater is repaired and piping hot very soon, and in the meantime, I’m really, really grateful for coffeepots, microwaves and stovetops, all of which are keeping us thawed out until our hot water returns.
