My New Favorite Accessory: the Buff

This year for Memorial Day, Adam and I took off for the Pacific Northwest. We’d found cheap flights a while back and decided that this was our chance to hike, sleep and eat cheese, so we’d better take it. Anyway, we had a great time rambling around Seattle and the surrounding areas – one of the most exciting stops we made was to the flagship REI store. Yes, my friends, we journeyed to the mothership and it was as tempting and alluring and expensive as we knew it would be. It spoke to Adam with maps and gadgets, to me with cute shirts and high-tech coffee mugs and, well, the Buff.

My friend and world-wide blogging sensation Annie, likes to show off her Buff while being buff in Colorado, and, as cute as it looks on her, I’d never invested in one. Maybe it’s because I think of myself as a cowboy hat or baseball cap-kinda girl, but I tried the Buff on in the gi-normous Seattle REI and I knew it was what I needed for that weekend’s happiness, and for all the outdoor weekends to come.

Boy was I glad I had it. It kept my ears warm and my hair contained, and it might be my new favorite piece of outdoorsy equipment.

Olympic National Park
Lunchtime at the Humes Homestead (100-year-old cabin) in Olympic National Park. Yes, much Seattle-made cheese was consumed.
Mt. Rainier National Park
Lunchtime in Mt. Rainier National Park. I'm overly excited because I'm eating a chocolate/espresso shortbread cookie. I'm telling you, packing lunches from the bounty of Pike Place Market was such a hardship.
