To Momma Nichols

So, my Mother-in-Law is getting married tomorrow. She made it very clear that she does not want gifts, which made me kind of sad because I like presents, even when they’re not for me. BOWS! PRESENTS! NEW STUFF YOU NEVER KNEW YOU NEEDED! Seriously, what’s not to like about that? Anyhoodle, she doesn’t want gifts (crazy) but she didn’t say anything about blogs! Mwah ha ha ha ha! (Rubs hands together in glee).

When I was thinking about writing this, I realized just how lucky I am to have such wonderful in-laws. Every family has their quirks and crazies, but the Nichols family covers theirs in the most overwhelming amount of gooey, sloppy, generous love I’ve ever encountered. It’s fabulous.

I’ve never really thought about sharing your family until I realized that this is exactly what the Nichols have done – widely welcomed me with enthusiasm and grace – so it makes me excited to return the favor to Momma Nichols’ lucky fella. As she prepares to get married and start on another adventure of her own, I was thinking about all the things I love about her and had to share it here, for all the world to see, because I really have been so blessed by this second family that I get to claim as my own.

  • She is generous always, buying us Taco Bueno as soon as we land on Texas soil and cards for every holiday and so many other things, always giving of herself and her time whenever we need her.
  • She is mom-ish in the best way. She can sew anything, always has Advil on her person and your favorite drink in the fridge, just in case.
  • She has a fabulous Texarkana accent that makes me smaaahle.
  • She gives great hugs.
  • She is a great listener.
  • She is a cheerleader for any project, adventure or crazy stunt we attempt.
  • She loves us deeply.

Congratulations, Momma Nichols! Tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day (I have the cases of alcohol in my garage to prove it) and we’re so lucky to share it with you. I don’t think I’ve ever told you this, but thank you for loving both Adam and I so deeply. I feel blessed that I didn’t just marry the man of my dreams, but your family as well.
