Avast! Delurk!

I’ve heard through the blogging grapevine that it is, in fact, “delurking day” today. I’m pretty sure that the only lurkers I have are my beloved long-suffering and non-commenting relatives, who probably just check this little page to insure I don’t slander them on the sly, but I’m still going to give you all opportunity to expose yourself. (Pun intended.)

So, tell me, blog lurkers all… I have a gift card to Barnes and Noble and an itching for new reading material. Any suggestions?

  1. I’ll loan you The Help just as soon as I finish it. Thus far it’s pretty fabulous!

A former student and I were discussing Freakonomics this weekend. I read part of a chapter and got hooked by the concept. I can’t wait to head to B&N and use my gift card too.

Oh yeah, I also liked the series, The Olympians by Rick Riordan. I’ve buzzed through the first three books already and am dying for the fourth to come into the library. They’re kids books, technically, but interesting for adults too. You’ll walk away having brushed up on your Greek mythology and been entertained in the process!

  2. I just read Shelf Discovery by Lizzie Skurnick – fascinating look at “the teen classics we never stopped reading.” And I’m in the middle of Gretchen Rubin’s memoir The Happiness Project – I love her blog by the same name, and so far the book is fantastic.

  3. Hi Dani – I’m a friend of Val & Ginger, which is how I found your blog. I’m a big supporter of delurking day, so just wanted to say hello! Anyhoo, I just finished a book of short stories by Wendell Berry, one of my very favorite authors. It’s called Fidelity, and I really enjoyed it. Happy reading!

  4. Same Kind of Different as Me- so incredibly moving and a great true story. I think it’s one of my favorites.

  5. Hi, I’m just lurking in the corner here (just trying to make sure I didn’t get slander today) and I have a good one for you…

How Capitalism Saved America: The Untold History of Our Country, from the Pilgrims to the Present by Thomas J. DiLorenzo (Paperback – Aug 23, 2005)

  6. I just found your blog while surfing around Annie Parsons’ links and can never turn down a chance to recommend a book. A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller is a worthy read.

  7. I just got the newest John/Stasi Eldredge book, Love and War – it’s on marriage! You’ll probably like it more than I – I can’t totally relate to it yet, since I’m not married…yet… 🙂
